About Captain Dan

Capt. Dan and his crew have been welcoming friends and guests aboard the S/V DELIA for almost 20 years. His casual yet confident manner will put you at ease from the moment you step aboard until you wave goodbye to your newfound friend at the end of your voyage. Capt. Dan and his crew each have their own set of skills which make them great people to travel with. But together, their chemistry provides a lighthearted atmosphere where the fun just happens, and you can't help but smile and share in the good times.

His Experience

Captain Dan holds a United States Coast Guard Charter Captain's 100 Ton License and has more than 40 years of experience. After purchasing his dream boat DELIA in 2001, he logged much of his sailing time offshore in South Florida from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami and in the Florida Keys. In May of 2003, he brought DELIA up from Ft. Lauderdale to the Great Lakes. The trip took 5 weeks to complete and logged over 2,500 miles. Other voyages include several trips to Mexico, the Virgin Islands and St. Vincent & the Grenadines. He recently helped deliver a 42' private yacht from Antigua in the Leeward Islands to the Port of Miami. He was a Sailing Instructor with the Hoofers Sailing Club at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and was their Cruising Keelboat Fleet Captain for several years. Capt. Dan is also a Certified SCUBA Diving Instructor with PADI (hence the name - Cruise Diver), and holds several advanced First Aid and CPR Trainer designations.

Meet Kristin

Capt. Dan is often accompanied by his 1st Mate Kristin who is a Bonafede Gourmet Chef and a World Traveler in her own right. Kristin loves to come up with surprises from the Galley that you would never expect on a ship of our size. If you're lucky, you might see Barbecued Cajun Shrimp come off the grill surrounded by a medley of seasonal vegetables ... or Stuffed Chicken Breast ... or Filet Mignon topped with sautéed Morel Mushrooms. She loves a good challenge and is more than happy to prepare your favorite dish if you give her a little advance notice. And if you have traveled abroad or in the Orient, there is a good chance you can share a story or two about your favorite Port of Call. But fair warning ... just don't challenge her to a game of Euchre.

ADDITIONAL REMARKS: This well-cared-for Jeanneau Trinidad 47 has many custom features that set her apart from other Trinidad's. Her custom Hard Dodger/Pilot House offers a very comfortable shelter in adverse conditions. The custom S/S radar arch/davits are very functional and will hold a 600 lb dinghy. Her centerboard up 5' draft and bridge clearance of 64' make her ICW friendly and capable of cruising islands that other vessels with deeper draft could not. The boat is in excellent condition and is well equipped for blue water cruising.
