Captain Dan and his First Mate, Patty, have been welcoming friends and guests aboard the S/V DELIA for the past five years. Their casual yet confident manner will put you at ease from the moment you step aboard until you wave goodbye to your new found friends at the end of your voyage. Each has their own set of skills which make them great people to travel with. But together, their chemistry provides an atmosphere where fun just happens and you can't help but smile and share in the happiness.
Captain Dan holds a United States Coast Guard Charter Captain's License and has more than 30 years experience motoring and sailing in the Great Lakes, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Caribbean Sea. After purchasing his dream boat DELIA in 2001, he logged much of his sailing time offshore in South Florida from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami and in the Florida Keys. In May of 2003, he delivered DELIA form Ft. Lauderdale to Manitowoc, WI, using the "Great Circle Route." The trip took 5 weeks to complete and logged over 2,500 miles. Other voyages include several trips to Mexico, the Virgin Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadine Islands and most recently Antigua and the Leeward Islands where he chartered a 46' catamaran. In April of 2006 he became a Sailing Instructor with the Hoofers Sailing Club at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in their Cruising Keelboat Fleet. Captain Dan is also a Certified SCUBA Diving Instructor with PADI (hence the name - Cruise Diver), and holds several advanced First Aid and CPR Trainer designations.
Patty is a Learning Disabilities Teacher involved with children in Kindergarten through 4th grades. She holds a Master's Degree in Special Education. She also serves as a private tutor. She loves to work with children and often occupies them with arts, crafts and learning games during voyages. She is a gourmet cook who loves to come up with special surprises from the galley. Oh yes, and did I mention that warm and friendly smile ... it just seems to shine from sun up to sundown.
