Inclement Weather :
Your charter vessel, the S/V Delia is a 48 foot, "Blue Water" (Ocean Going) sailboat, intended for off shore cruising in a variety of weather and sea conditions. Summer winds in the Great Lakes rarely exceed 25 knots on a sustained basis, which is a manageable speed for a boat of DELIA's size, construction and instrumentation. Squalls and storms exceeding that are typically short-lived and avoidable. Having said all this, it is our policy to offer our guests the most enjoyable sailing experience possible and SAFETY is always our paramount concern. Occasionally it is necessary to have to wait out a storm or delay a departure for a few hours while Mother Nature kicks up her heals. Such is the nature of sailing. However, at your Captain's discretion, or by the request of a guest, if your party chooses not to leave port due to high winds or heavy sea conditions, you may re-schedule your charter for a future date. Please note that rain, cloudy conditions or cool weather are not of themselves reason to cancel a charter.
